READ MORE: Jürgen Klopp has four things on World Cup to-do list as Liverpool window gives transfer chance
The pair of forwards are expected to return to action once the World Cup concludes, with Díaz in particular likely to be ready more or less as soon as the tournament comes to an end. This will open up a question for Klopp regarding where to field his new £85m man.

Liverpool concluded their first stretch of Premier League matches on Saturday afternoon, beating Southampton 3-1 ahead of their five-week World Cup break. Darwin Núñez was the star of the show, finding the net twice and generally looking like a menace from start to finish.
But overall, although Núñez has demonstrated a healthy degree of versatility in recent weeks, his future should lie in the middle. With him as Klopp's fixed striker in the coming years, Liverpool might have to change in subtle ways, but his ability to deliver meaningful returns suggests he's worth the hassle.
If that is Klopp's long-term plan, he might have to make some subtle adjustments to his 4-3-3 system to appreciate the differences b 2022年世界杯魔咒 etween Núñez and Firmino. The former is a true poacher who seems obsessed with putting the ball in the net and little else, whereas the latter is more inclined to drop deeper and help his midfield teammates.
"He's a proper centre-forward with speed but was playing on the wing today," said Trent Alexander-Arnold over the weekend. "He's versatile. We saw what he could do and he's hit a stride now, he's enjoying his football."
Núñez has performed to a reasonable level on the flanks and he's been able to offer some of the perks typically represented by Mané or Díaz, particularly when it comes to pace, but it is likely that he'll end up being deployed elsewhere.

Installing the Uruguayan international as Liverpool's new front man through the centre without recognising his unique qualities could deliver structural problems. He's averaging just 15.4 passes completed on a per-90 basis this term, for example, compared to Firmino who has averaged double that amount across his Reds career. Klopp will need to use the five-week break to ponder that dilemma.
The Reds boss did the same in a clash with Tottenham Hotspur last week. Although the South American is accustomed to playing as a central striker who comes alive in the penalty box and provides a physical presence — standing around 6"2 — he's being asked to almost play in the mould of Sadio Mané or Luis Díaz at present.
Salah owns the right side of the pitch and the same largely applies to Díaz on the left whenever he's fit. With Firmino now aged 31, a role through the centre seems most likely for Núñez, who will surely act as an heir to the Brazilian's throne.

Díaz is absent through injury, having picked up a serious knock against Arsenal last month, which perhaps explains Núñez's wide role. Indeed, Klopp only has three senior attackers to work with at the moment once also factoring in Diogo Jota's injury.

The Uruguayan striker is certainly improving at Anfield, even though he's been deployed in a relatively unfamiliar wide role of late. Against the Saints, Jürgen Klopp fielded him on the left flank, with Roberto Firmino through the middle and Mohamed Salah on the right. |
